After the 68th session in 2013, United Nations General Assembly declared March 3 as world wildlife week, the day of signature of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), as UN World Wildlife Day to celebrate and raise awareness of the world’s wild animals and plants.
Female bear cub radio-collared for release in the wild
The female bear cub is radio-collared by Dr Rinku Gohain, the IFAW-WTI veterinarian at the rehabilitation site in Pakke Tiger Reserve in Arunachal Pradesh. It is one of the two cubs that were rescued by the Assam forest department rescue team from a household in Karbi Anglong district of Assam in January 2018.
