Leading Wildlife NGO Seeks Assistant Field Officer for Arunachal Pradesh

Wildlife Trust of India(WTI) invites applications from undergraduate or postgraduate degree holders in the Environmental Science/ Wildlife Science, with 0-2 years of experience who will work towards the health and welfare needs of wild animals and is the primary point of contact for all issues on bear rehabilitation in Arunachal Pradesh.


Qualification, Experience& Skills

  • Good communication skills required, Proficiency in Assamese language is an added advantage
  • Inclination towards Wildlife conservation
  • Graduate or Postgraduate degree in Environmental Science/ Wildlife Science.
  • Work Experience of 0-2 years, preferably working for an NGO


Broad responsibilities include:                                                     

  • Over seeing rehabilitation of Asiatic Black Bears in Pakke Tiger Reserve or other protected areas of Arunachal Pradesh as per instruction from PI/H/PH.
  • Conducting field surveys to identify a release site within Pakke TR or other protected areas as per instruction from PI/H/PH, acquire requisite permissions and establish acclimatization enclosures.
  • Ensure that 3 individuals are always present during acclimatization process.
  • Conduct monitoring of acclimatization process for a minimum of three weeks of every month.
  • Ensure that bears undergoing rehabilitation are given daily and adequate walks.
  • Ensure periodical body weight measurement of bears undergoing rehabilitation and that they get adequate food and water during the process.
  • Ensure regular collected feed and material enrichment in bear enclosures after walks.
  • Conduct behavioural studies during acclimatization and of lifetime care bears.
  • Conduct post release monitoring of the bears using radio-telemetry.
  • Responsible for all rehabilitation field reports, photographic documentation, submission of data sheets etc. as per the requirements of the Project.
  • Timely report to Project Head, behavioural changes, physical attributes and other observations of rehabilitation process and other significant information related to the project.
  • Co-ordinate with the forest department in organising events related to the project.
