Wildlife Trust of India (WTI) invites applications from undergraduate or postgraduate degree holders in the veterinary sciences, with 1-5 years of field experience, to join its Temple Tiger Project, Karnataka in Wild Rescue and Rehabilitation Division.

Who we’re looking for

The Veterinary Surgeon will be responsible for field or on-site implementation of the project in association with the reporting manager and other project team members, on all aspects that include technical, administrative and financial requirements of the Project Head/DH.

Veterinary Surgeon – Temple Tiger Project, works under the supervision of the (DH/PI) and shall be focusing on immunization of livestock in and around the Protected Area (PA) of MM Hills Wildlife Sanctuary

Qualifications & Skills

  • Postgraduate or Undergraduate degree in Veterinary Sciences
  • Experience in handling and immunization of livestock
  • Ability to communicate in Kannada is an added benefit

Veterinarian will work under the supervision of the Division Head (DH) or Chief Veterinarian he/she will be primary point of contact for all issues on regarding wildlife health through the operation of Mobile Veterinary Service Unit in the project area.

Key responsibilities:

  • Conduct health camps for livestock in all the selected villages of the project area as an entry point activity before the commencement of the actual vaccination program.
  • Coordinate with all departments and ensure that livestock in the designated villages of the project area are immunized against selected infectious diseases.
  • Maintain records of all immunizations done by us and those done by the AH department in soft & hard copies.
  • Maintains records of all immunization camps and health camps for livestock
  • Additionally, responsible for all field level governmental and partner liaisons at appropriate levels for the project and local public relation needs, with the DH/PI
  • Responsible for maintenance of all assets of the organization (veterinary expendable, veterinary non expendable, and fixed assets
  • Additional responsibilities will be as mentioned in the individual targets as issued by PI/DH
